Survey shows more than 70% of Intag women against mine

These are the results of a survey taken in 2012. The paper that contains these results is still in progress and has yet to be formally published. North american anthropologist Linda D’amico was in charge of the study.

555 women were interviewed and asked about their stance on the mining issue. The results show that women in Intag are overwhelmingly against mining in the region.

In some parishes, like PeƱaherrera, only 2.7% of women were in favor of mining. This percentage was highest in the parish of Garcia Moreno, but still only reached 27%.
